Fall Walleye bite is on

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fall Walleye bite is on

Post by Boosterman »

The time of the year comes again when the walleye are feeding heavy. So what better time to plan a weekend trip. I convince my brother in law and nephew(which wasn't difficult) to come with me in there boat and I would take my father in law on my boat. I took Friday off so we where able to get on the road early. No matter how hard you plan there is always a last minute stop to make. Ever notice that? We had the show on the road by 8am for the short two hour drive to what I think is one of the best walleye fisheries in Ontario. The trip up went smooth and we where able to have camp set up, fire wood cut and boats in the water by noon. This weekends plan for me was to not bother making the long drive up the lake for great fishing. I would try in adventure new spots. The plan was to start at the first point and go on from there. So I started at point 1 and my bro in law at point 2. Then me point three and him four and so on. Well by the time I made it to point three We had landed 11 walleyes 3 pike. 3 of the walleye where 20" the other 8 where 16". I wasn't sure of the time but it was around 2pm I met up with my bro in law. He was fishing off the rear of an island and he had been there for a awhile so i'm sure he wasn't beating a dead horse. Sure enough he had landed 9 walleyes. The bite was really on. We continued to fish for about an hour and decided to head in and fry up some fish. Image
I wanted to mention I always laughed at the rapala electric knife. Man does that ever work well. I finally caved and bought one.
We sat around the fire for the night and went to bed early after a few shots of finlandia.
Saturday morning the fog was heavy . Could not see the front of the boat. We decided to not stray to far away. so we stuck we the same plan as Friday. We lost site with my brother in law and myself the father in law went on from point to point and hammered walleye after walleye for the next 2 hours our biggest being 21 inches. We headed in for breakfast and just behind us was my brother in law he didn't have as much luck as us but still had good results. My father law figured we caught 45 walleyes between the two boats in 2 hours. After a hearty breaky and let my father in law nap for an hour we decide to head out and do our afternoon fish. I had made a nice lunch for us so if we decide to stay out late we could. We made the long drive up and headed up to big water. The waves where about 2 feet high not to bad. Looked like a day of the walleye chop. Same idea as yesterday pick a point or shoal. My brother in law picked a set of a dozen islands to play in. We chose shore line and under water rock masses. within minutes we where into walleye in 4fow. Thought I was gonna lose my motor a few times. I would turn around to net a fish and when I would look back at my rod I had a fish on to. That afternoon we had three different double headers. My brother in law gave me crap because I don't take enough pictures so here is a few of that afternoon.Image

After a wonderfull Saturday afternoon and catching releasing a huge amount of fish between the both of us.(we lost count). I know we used 40 dozen minnows for the weekend. We headed to shore and had a another fish fry and sat by the fire for the rest of the night. We woke up Sunday morning with a bit of rain so we decided to pack it up and head her in early back home. Here is a few more pics. These are all my nephew and Bro in law I am camera shy lol

Very nice!

You guys really had an amazing catch!!! WOW!!!! wonderful stuff!!!!

That is seriously AMAZING ...........................There are no lakes around here where you will catch Walleye like that..Only 1 around here that you can make your limit on everytime you go, but I must keep it a secret....

Congrats!! Bet those fish tastes DAMN GOOD in beer batter or whatever type of stuff you used!

How did you cook that pike? Do you beer batter or batter pikes? Or eat them in a diff way? I dont' remember what Snot Rockets taste like.......Refresh my memory haha

My biggest wasn't 21" it was 25 and half which was released without a pick because my father in law is camera crippled.

Well that pike was far from snot rocket it was 6 pounds. I didn't it eat it yet my nephew took it home. I would imagine he will deep fry it. I always fry fish in homemade batter that I make.

wow, what a weekend! I've never come close to getting that many fish. Congratulations, looked like a good time.

Where did you get that stringer? I'm in need of a new one, all the ones i find seem pretty cheap.
