Will I be sank if I hit the BOQ in a 14ft boat with a 9.9? I'm looking to hook into something the size of my leg.

Could be risky. Make sure you go on a day with little to no wind.

I have done it in a 16 ft Tacker DeepV16 with a 40 HP. Been out there a few times when a shouldn't been.

This time of year, make sure you wear a float suit. There are warm, protect you from the weather and will save your life if you happen to go over board in the cold water. They cost between 200-300 and are worth every penny.

I'm taking a 17'6" with a 115HP this Saturday and I'm watching the weather carefully.

I saw 3 guys in a 14' out last Sat and they were anchored and being tossed about quite a bit.
The weather can change very quickly there, so I would really pick the right day.

you want a BIG high pressure system when there is little to no wind (in that perfect situation, I would take my own 14ft there as well

as long as your fishing the inner sections of bay of quinte, you'd be fine in a 14'er or a kayak.

if your crazy enough to fish the reach, east of the ferry, in a kayak....well.....each to their own i guess.

I remember being new to the board this time last year and there was a report of a guy yak fishing out of Niagra I think.
I do remember it ended very badly and sadly for his family.

There are lots of places you can put in with a 14 ft. Just check from where the wind is coming from and hide in the lee.

Deseronto, Napanee River, Hay Bay, Point Anne.
The Reach is not the only place.
