Hi Everyone :
I realize that the weather over the past couple of days has erased some ice thickness, but what I can say is that lakes in the Perth area had measured 1.5 inches in thickness late last week.
Last year, ice fishing began early because of the cold weather in November.
I'm looking for some predictions on timing based on current and future weather for safe ice this year - just out of curiosity. I would not venture on the ice unless it was safe according to the following table (and I would add a bit more to each category for maximum safety) :
3 inches Single person on foot
4 inches Group in single file
7-1/2 inches Passenger car (2-ton gross)
8 inches Light truck (2-1/2-ton gross)
10 inches Medium truck (3-1/2-ton gross)
12 inches Heavy truck (8-ton gross)
Len
ice thickness - timing predictions for Perth area ?

It's not just a question of ice thickness, it's got more to do with ice quality.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!
