Rod holders for Clam Yukon

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Post by Red Feathers »

I use a 2x4 about 8 inches long and ABS pipe 2 1/2 inch and about 12 inches long. I then angle a smaller 2 1/2 inch with a swivel and nut and attached at the top of the 12 inch ABS. You might want to cut a slot in the short piece to hold your rod. I then screw the 12" inch to the 2x4 at the bottom on an angle to secure.

Works great for outside lines as well... I will send you a pic of some others I built...

I don't know if anybody has tried these Multi-Flex Rod Holders out.

They are about $20 delivered.

Now thoses are the cats meow..

I think I will order a couple and try em out.... I like the idea that they are adjustable and you can move them out of the main entrance.

But I think if you use them attached to your poles they will be useless if you want to lift the top of your trap to go check a tipup?? I picked up a good idea from RJ and I use a broom handle holder and mounted it on my Trap on a swing away bracket.

The one that RJ had on his was bought at the IceFishing Show in Syracuse and it looked a lot better than this one. But it was basically the same idea as this. I installed a spacer between my Trap and the bracket so it could swing out of the way. But the bracket swings form one side to the other and so doea the actual broom holder. So I can pretty well adjust wherever I need it.

And here it is swung out of the way.

Wallyboss... that looks good but I am wondering if your into a lugger if it would hold. I know when the wife grabs the broom to swat me it comes out of the holder real easy.

I like the idea and I am gonna mod one like it.

Thanks.

This is the one I picked up at the show....No fish will pull your rod from it....unless your drag isn't set properly....

The two pieces that hold the grey rubber wheels you can squeeze them in to get a tighter grip , but it seems like i have to spread them out all the time because they seem to get tighter as the day goes on. You need a good tug to get the rod out of them. If you keep getting fish that will pull your rod out of this setup I need to know where you go fishing

Did you guys buy a hitch for it or did you make one up. Seems the rope they give you with the sled is not a good thing when pulling behind a bike and going down a hill.

I am curious before I run out and buy one for 60 bucks....

I bought the Clam Corp hitch for it because I tow it with the 4-wheeler.
