Power Pro Questions

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Power Pro Questions

Post by Mrtopwater2 »

I have some general questions about using braided line. I exclusively use power pro and I love the way it performs. However I'm concerned because I feel that I am not getting the bites that I used to before I started using braided line. I use 50lb. (12lb dia.) on all my casting rods and 20lb. (6lb. dia.) on my spinning rods. I still get quite a few on my spinning rods, but very few on my casters. Should I maybe scale down in size an use 20 on my casters and 15 (2 dia.) on my spinning rods? Or should I just use mono when they aren't responding to the braid? I haven't noticed it to be a problem using spinnerbaits, but for flipping I find I am getting less bites. Any suggestions?

If the water is real clear maybe the size could be a concern, but generally if you're flippin its a reaction bite, maybe you're just over thinking it, relax !!

What I do to my rods is that I attach a mono/floro tippet to the PP using a blood knot or using a small barrel swivel. The tippet length is from 12-18" in length.I use just 8-12 lbs. test mono as the tippets and may want to check them often for knicks and it is alot easier to snap off than trying to snap the PP.This method will diffently let you catch more fish.
