Tip-ups

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Post by pikeman »

Good morning gents, I am heading out to Mississipe lake this weekend. I am kinda new at setting up tip-ups. How should i set them up. I purchased 2 windlass tip-ups.

Thanks

i personaly face the fin into the wind and adjust them so it jigs its self.
i use a heavier, stand up jig with a minow, and set it just of bottom so when it jigs it hits bottom and sturs up the mud.

be sure to set something on the base so it doesn't blow over.

good luck!

There's a video for the HT Windlass tipup here...

Lots of great info on using tipups. Key is movement - if no wind, every so often go over to the tip up and give it some movement. Or, use a live minnow - lightly hooked - my preference for sure.
