New Lowrance HDS - Screen Images

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

You brought it up...

While I think these units are impressive I find that when I'm in the boat with one the anglers spend more time staring at it than actually reacting to what's going on around them....but they sure are pretty to look at...

Hopefully guys will upgrade to these and there will be an influx of 510's and 520's....that may bring the price down to what they should be selling for...and maybe then....I'll think about it...

 Ya I did, but I did not want to get into the explanation of how sonar power is calculated into RMS or peak-to-peak power. Just wanted to inform anglers that the HDS units have way more power than any unit in the past. Therefore consistency in tracking bottom and targets at high speed or in all depths of water will not be an issue.

the 510c and 520c are SUCH excellent units that if they do come down in price, which they should, a number of folks should absolutely jump on the deals!

Folks the 510, 520, 525 are now legacy products an no longer manufctured. You will have to hunt to find hold overs and old stock.

The HDS 5 replaces most of the 5" units.

Check the Lowrance site to see all the units avaiable for 2009.

Just picked up my New HDS-7 tonight. :D

I sure hope that Lowrance provides an update for Navionics use in these units? Im trusting that they are working on it.

Yes the navionics charts will work, Lowrance and Navionics are working on it now. I did notice today that Lowrance released updates for the HDS 5 and 7 on their website.

Some more eye-candy

Here are some screen images from the HDS8 and 10. You will notice the menus at the bottom, these are hot buttons that run bellow the main screen. Also the cursor button has a fly wheel for navigation that is similar to an ipod for scrolling through files and menus.

Lowrance NauticPath map showing the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie.

Another NauticPath map showing navigation mode out to a shaol on Lake Ontario. Tonight I was getting a WAAS lock from inside the house while using the built-in GPS antenna.

I have a 2008 LCX 27c. I planned to purchase a second unit this year along with the expansion port (?- $140 jobby) to be able to view transducer readings from both units. WIll I be able to share info from one tranducer to bot an LCX model and a HDS model?

Yes via ethernet connection (Yellow Connector). If you only have two units you do not need the expansion port, just connect the lowrance ethernet cable between them.

Beautiful units..for sure

Too bad they'll run you a grand minimum and as high as 3 grand......puts it out of most budgets.....I guess I'll have to stick with my lms480m that is now obsolete.
:?

Do they have a trade up program??

Very nice indeed....but as mentioned a little too expensive....
I think the average angler would not be buying one of these but would wish they had one....

They are expensive, but like I said earlier in the thread the LMS 525C retailed for around $800 last year. So the increase was not out of line considering the new technology you are getting in the HDS units.
