Bass spawn late?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass spawn late?

Post by Hoser »

Anybody know how long these guys guard their nest? I'm still catching bass in 10 - 15 feet and assume the spawn hasn't started yet. Now I'm wondering if they will still be on the nests opening day.

Could be, it was a late spring. Bass have just started moving to beds here in Long Point Bay. I'm sure there will still be some beds come opening day that people will rob.

I worked on some bass studies and I have found that even though bass starts last saturday in June, the bass are still on their nests after opening of bass season. As much as I love to fish for bass, I have often wondered if the season should start a week or two later to give the bass time to get off their nests.

Bass spawning

Post by GamblerSteve »

Depends where you live north or south because places around here the bass are done spawning in some areas and have moved back to the drop-offs. Last week went in shallow to check out the Carp and there where clouds of Bass fry every where. I don't think there where buck Bass even guarding them. I think there off doing there own thing as well.
