Noon Hour Walleye

Post by devy »

Under a bright sunny sun and with moderate chop on the lake headed out onto mississippi lake around 930. fished several spots on lake around10-12 feet of water with results being 2 nice pike 25 and 24 inches in length. Tried to avoid shallows but still picked up 3 nice small mouth bass(quickly put back into water). Around 1230, decided to head deeper to mid lake and fished humps where water drops off from12 to 20 feet. Within 1 hour caught the 14 walleye with the smallest being 15 inches and the largest 20. (also lost 4 fish)The average size was 18 inches or a little more than 2 lbs!. Backtrolling over the 17-20 foot drop using a 1/8 ounce jig tipped with a minnow was the method of the day. One of the best non-stop action walleye days that I have had in early June! Only kept 4 fish. Seemed to be lots of boats on the lake today. finally got off at 200 had enough action for the day!
