As many know I use my electronics in ways that help me catch fish. Many on this site have been out in the boat with me and have been shocked at the settings on Lowrance units that allow you to dial in the details of all the information under the boat. This past weekend I showed some FH members how to mark schools of bait fish at 45 mph by using the sonar way-point feature.
Now get ready for the HDS Revolution, as today is the launch day of the new Lowrance units that have been designed with many features that make it even easier to see what is happening under the boat.
HD stands for high defenition sonar...all the new HDS units have broadband sounders built in. If you have not seen a broadband sounder in action it is a treat as the digitial defenition is trully amazing.
Not to be too negative but Lowrance-Broadband-Sounder looks to be a dual chnl transducer.
Whats diferent with Lowrance then say eagle or hummingbird dual chnl transducer? 1 kw seems a bit high for around here and whats the drain on a battery at 1kw.
Or I could be missing the whole concept entirely.[/url]

The broadband sounder uses advanced digital filtering to produce a crystal clear image with improved clarity, sharpness and excellent target separation. It can make the difference between seeing a fish next to a rock or missing it all together.
1kw is needed locally as I can run a 50+ mph with my present 1kw Lowrance units and mark schools of bait-fish or bottom changes from rock to mud thanks to the extra power of the sonar. The high power really helps when looking for targets right on bottom. I do lots of walleye fishing so the extra power really helps when jigging for walleye stuck on bottom.
Looks really nice sheldon. I thought the HDS-10 would be substantially more then the 113C but it really isn't. Can't wait to see one on the water. The mapping interface looks really nice to.
Hi. I have the head unit, an HDS-5X, and would like to find out where to get one of the 83/200 transducers. Anyone know of the part number, or a place to find the right one?? Thanks.
