We (me and 5 other fine anglers) are going to fish Crotch Lake May 21 to May 25 for walleyes and maybe some pikes. We will be staying at Tumblehome Lodge.
We never went there and we are looking for some advise, tips even honey hole if anybody is ready to give me some. Don't worry, I will not share them with anybody else.
Fished it a few years back with a buddy, from the same lodge. Very nice place... The owner/operator had great info/location information that played out well. At the time there was a slot-limit which might still be in effect.
I went there last year and had a great time. Didn't have the greatest luck but don't put to much stock into that. 1. I'm a terrible fisherman and 2. There was quite a low pressure system that had settled in and slowed things down a fair bit.
The lodge is great, and as others have mentioned, Ward is a great guy who is more than generous with offering up suggestions. I would suggest that you take some time to go over the map of the lake with him as it is quite a large body of water with some rather large bays and inlets. Last year we didn't do too well on the walleye side but we were able to land a few really nice sized bass and a couple of decent pike.
The bass were caught up at the large bay at the far (north) end of the lake (but are currently OOS) and the pike were caught not too far from the lodge in the bays on the east side of the lake.
My guess would be to settle into the areas around the mouths of the rivers that feed into the lake as the walleye should be still in the vicinity of their spawning grounds....but once again, please refer to point #1 above.
Was there a few years ago in the spring and again in the summer. It can be very hot or it can make you feel like a newbie. We had good luck behind Colonel Island for jumbo perch and small walleye in the weeds.....some guys went on to Fawn lake. There is a shoal straight out and to the right of Tumblehome , usually a blue marker ...its supposed to be good at dusk. Its a great looking lake and the scenerary is breathtaking....Ward should be able to point you towards a high percentage spot but lockjaw can run rampant.........
I am new at this website so if I am in the wrong forum I am sorry .
