black rapids locks
its a well known fishing hole and it hasnt been to good to me in the past but this year ive been hooking into a few every now and then. anybody fish here and have any tips on it

Well they just raised the water levels up from the winter drawdown the other week. It normally takes at least three weeks before things settle down and the fishing picks up. The rains we've been having are also keeping the water levels high.
When you start to see the perch, rockbass and pannies in the shallows, the pike and walleye action should soon follow. If the baitfish aren't there yet I wouldn't bother.

I do 90% of my shorefishing there and i can tell you that the curent power really determins how much fishable water there is. if you want to catch fish you need to be the first fisherman there or the last one to stop. yes the white bucket brigade takes a heavy toll on the fish population but these duds usually only catch rock bass! when they close one of the weirs hit the curent edge with a # 3 or 4 bluefox vibrex or minnow jig combo.
ps if you can out cast everyone you will catch more fish that extra 10 feet makes a huge difference.
