All-time Freshwater PB

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I tried out all the formulas posted: the just length cubed formula gives 16lbs, length x girth formula gives 35lbs and the lunkerlink carp formula gives 30lbs.

Bottom line: excellent fish, many congrats and keep these posts coming, brightens the day spent in a cube

Look at the gut on that freakin thing! Nice fish man. I gotta get out sometime and give Carp fishing a whirl.

*************** HIJACK FOR A MOMENT (sorry FishStick, but this needs to be said) *********************
D-mo, jwhite, Check How it's made.....
Todd may be a moderator, but he's no more special than you or I. His estimate was the first post on the topic based on a formula that he found on the Internet. Is it correct? Perhaps not, and perhaps not the best formula to use, but really who cares!

I think that Carp is heavier than 20lbs as well, and perhaps there's a better forumla out there which RJ has suggested, but again, who cares!

It's a great fish for sure, and if you don't agree with an opinion from someone, why not just say that you don't agree with the weight assessment and tell us what you think it would be......rather than start something against the very people who try to provide this medium to you. I'm really getting tired of the nonsense from some people, who seem to take every opportunity they can to prove some kind of point against Fish-Hawk. I haven't been posting much lately, but I've been reading lots, and I see a pattern developing with a few members who walk the fine line between their own opinions and the respect for others opinions.

If you don't like the site, and feel it's useless with just a bunch of bashing and jiberish, then go find another site which better suits your needs. You would be hard pressed to do so, and I can guarantee that the people here who try to provide this form of entertainment and learning put a lot of hard work into keeping it clean and as respectul as possible. It's comments like these against someone's opinion which ruin it for everyone, so I don't want to hear it anymore.

Now that I've hijacked this great thread on a Personal Best, end of story, no more comments like that please, PM me if you have something else to say, but we'll get back to the PB.

****************END HIJACK ************************************
Fantastic fish. My guess would be between 25-30lbs, but it is difficult to give a good guess based on a photo. :)

Cheers,

That's a monster for sure.

Unlike everyone else trying to guess the weight, I'll just take your original guesstimate, because ultimately it's no skin off of my back if the fish weighed 10lbs or 300lbs...

That thing looks like it should have horns and live in a pasture. What a cow! Definately in the 30lb range.

Congrats my friend - fantastic fish! Out of curiosity, what type of line were you using? I hooked into a smaller one than that by accident one day - came to the surface and rolled over on my monfilament and snapped it quicker than I could blink. Cheers, Crankbait
