Towing your boat- Motor up or down?

Thanks all. I think i will pickup a transom saver bar thing.. Have to find one in town somewhere, but i figure a marina would have em.. so i'll do some looking...

crappy tire has em' for $40,my 115 Merc. rides down,but I upgraded my trailer to 14" tires,and I have the skeg clearance.

I have a 20 HP on a 14". I trailer motor DOWN. I always assumed that you needed auto tilt/trim to keep weight on your Transom Saver??? (Without having to tie down the motor so that it does not bounce out of the Transom Saver).
