Gulp! Shiners

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Wolfe keep in mind that there is Gulp and Gulp Alive. Alive comes in a tub full of liquid. Regular Gulp comes in a bag.

But I think that to save money after using up the Gulp Alive minnows you can just get the Regular Gulp stuff and drop it into then Gulp Alive liquid.

if you take gulp over live your not to smart. tell me this is a gulp shiner part of ANY FISH IN THE WORLDS NATURAL FOOD. didnt think so. walleye eat real swimming minnows, so do pike, bass, muskie, crappie, and perch. let me know when you see a little gulp swimming in the water :D Not saying it doesnt work, but i would sure as hell choose live over gulp

I may not be as smart as you    but I won't have to change the water in my Gulp 6-7 times in a day. or turn on the pump . or change my bait every 3 casts. Especially if you want to fish it in weeds and snags where the walleyes live.
Like I mentioned b4 I have seen the results and outfished fising buddies that were using live bait on more than 1 occasion.

I use both Gulp and Gulp Alive as well as live baits.

Cost
Gulp and other soft baits = lowest
Gulp Alive = Mid
Live Bait = Highest

Success for me is species dependant, but generally,
Gulp and other soft baits = good
Gulp Alive = better
Live Bait = best

Convenience
Live Bait = worst
Gulp Alive = med
Gulp and other soft baits = best

Gulp Alive would win the convenience except it leaks all over, even with only the center cut out of the liner. I hate the selection of live bait around here, I can drive 30 minutes to Norris for good bait, but that doesn't always fit my schedule. When planning a day on the lake, I usually buy bait and use it if required (eg if the bite is slow). For impromptu fishing for 4 hour Saturday AM type trips, I used Gulp Alive. For convenience I always keep some Gulp soft baits in the boat...

Overall, I still prefer lures such as body baits, spoons and spinners to any of the above choices. Next in line is live bait, but when factoring in convenience, I prefer Gulp Alive over live. Other soft baits are great cheap-butt kid friendly (no spillage) convenient baits to toss for bass in the summer months...

They're the best live bait alternative but why take them if you can have the live bait?
Its simple ....... some poeple like using live bait and some like using Gulp. I personaly like using Gulp. If you dont like Gulp use LIVE BAIT ! I dont know about you but that sounds like a simple awnser !

It was a REAL pain going out late at night ice fishing. We have 1 store in town that sells minnows so all live bait options are non-existant. You'd have to buy bait hrs in advance and then keep it and hopefully the quality of them was such they did not die.

I have some Gulp Alive leeches and my wife has the minnows. I am gonna give the minnows a whirl on friday night.

I just don't like using anything "live" if I can avoid it.

Yes!

Bass loved them and they were excellent for eye's too!
The leeches are a little weak though. 1 strike and they are DONE!

There is a new product out there now called "Slimers" and they are a VERY realistic feeling and looking artificial leech. Come in all sorts of colors too! I bet they'll do awsome this year.
