Missed the point bud... nothing wrong with a bass boat or any boat doing 140km/hr. Its when they buzz other boaters at that speed that is the problem.Bass Addict wrote:The reason a Bass Boat sometimes travels at 140km's is because it can ..![]()

Walleye jigging on White lake for bass opener, I'm not sure what you expected. SEBO aside, there's w/e warriors, "local's", and American's that love to fish this lake. All of this has been going on for some time, it's nothing new. If you want a quiet lake, White Lake is not for you.
300hp on a big bass boat, what's the point? It doesn't mean it has to go wide open, that's what the boat is rated for. It also doesn't mean it's any faster then some bass boats with a 200hp.
Kayaks being flipped by a 20ft bass boat flying along? A bass boat "flying along" has next to NO wake. I have a 14ft tinny that puts off more wake at 10mph.
I could go on...but...
Yup, that's true. If you sit in a funnel part of the lake then you can't not expect someone to come by you. Hopefully they didn't come by fully on the throttle if that section is as small as it sounds. I hope you're not suggesting that its okay to fly them in this situation? FYI... it isn`t. If they're blocking the way then its different and you should tell them to move but if it means that you have to fly by them with minimal clearance it isn't.jcuts9 wrote:I also fished that event and whatever occurred on other parts of the lake well i don't know.
What I will say is this about anyone. The upper end of that lake is very narrow. You have the small island then the rocky shoal on your left and a small piece of water to get through between the shoal and shore.
It AMAZED me how people would just sit in the middle between that shoal and the shoreline you need to run in order to get through to clear the point and get out in main lake.
What do you expect anyone to do in that situation? No matter if in a bass boat or any boat? You only have so much room to get through......
I think some people sit in that stretch just so they can complain about people buzzing through.
If you know a train is coming through do you sit on the tracks? Well if you know at 7am there is going to be 80 plus boats coming through why do you sit there??? Please don't say because its the best spot on the lake, that lake has tons of shoreline and plenty of great spots.
People in boats need to be respectful to others in boats and on shore, but at the same time people need to stop looking for reasons to complain about anything they can and enjoy what you have up there in Canada, and be thankful its in your back yard!!!!!

Yes, we know Ted. You've got grammar mistakes in your short sentence already.Ted Takayaki wrote:Kudos to Kuno... couldn't have wrote it any better
Common sense and the regulations match this statement... they trump it and ground and pound it buddy.Bass Addict wrote:Here Here ..........Matt Massey wrote:I think it's great that everyone has an opinion. As TK pointed out, it's great to be Canadian.
As a tournament angler, guy who grew up on the rideau river and someone who likes to fish out of a canoe as well, I have seen pretty much everything that can happen on the water.
I've been accused of fishing bass while fishing for splake see this report: http://www.fish-hawk.net/hawktalk/viewt ... highlight=
Had cottagers and homeowners run out down to the dock to tell me to move on.
Had to swerve at the last minute because a Kayaker was out in open water with a dark red kayak and dark PFD on virtually invisible to boaters.
The list goes on.
TK has a good point about impressing your ideals upon others. It's clear that some (most) won't understand that desire to strap yourself into a boat that does 70 miles per hour and race down the lake like Ricky Bobby (I prefer Cal Naughton Jr. myself). It's the same reason why some guys are NASCAR fans and others like golf - personal preference.
Now admittedly, there is more than one or two guys in the region that are inconsiderate bass fishermen, however let's not paint all bass guys or gals with the same brush. Most of us are decent upstanding citizens who will do anything to help a fellow angler.
I can tell you though that guys who fish tournaments will continue to fish docks and shoreline structure. That won't change and neither will the increasingly common landowner who thinks it is perfectly fine to walk up to someone they DON'T KNOW and who is NOT on their property and tell them to back off.
Can you imagine walking down the sidewalk in front of some guys house in barrhaven and a guy running to the end of their driveway to tell you to move along cause you are too close...different situation but the principle is exactly the same. You wouldn't allow someone to infringe on your right to use the sidewalk and why would anyone allow another individual to infringe upon your rights to fish on public property.
This is why the government enacted the Heritage Hunting and Fishing Act.
Now, to go back to the original post on this string, Charbyc's post was more than a little one sided. I know because I fished that tournament and pretty sure I didn't hit anyone in a Kayak, well at least none of the locals cause I'm sure I would have heard something smack off the side of the boat or noticed a scuff mark on the hull...
To my knowledge, there was only one bass boat with a 300 HP motor on the back and he was fishing with his 6-year old son and wasn't going to be a speed demon with his son in the boat.
There were roughly 82 boats in the tournament, one or two incidents on a very busy lake in an eight hour day, things like this can and do happen here on the Mississippi regularly (mostly RJ's fault I'm sure...). I didn't notice Charbyc point out the 80+ other boats that went the entire day without causing an incident.
In closing, I can tell you I personally putted through three areas where locals were fishing in smaller boats as to not disturb their fishing, I didn't get so much as a nod from them let alone a hug from any local when I was finally off the water...very hurtful indeed.![]()

I'll challenge anybody to try and match this statement......
Listen I.... I don't know who you are nor do I give a sh!t... I find it quite odd how you joined this site 3 days after this tourney with what seems to be a vendetta towards all bass boats, and a sole intent to enforce this so called "slow down within 20 feet of all boats" rule...IFish wrote:Yes, we know Ted. Nothing wrong with bass fishing, bass boats and bass tournaments.... the problem is with maniac operators. The problem is the few guys that drive like lunatics around other boaters.
PS Might want to give your blinders a little nudge, bud. They were slippin'... wouldn't want you lose sight of Kuno's behind.![]()

You lie. BIGTIME. Its only the last few days that there have been some anti-bass boat talk... and most talkers are defending the bass boaters like they should. Its not about the bass-boats... its about dangerous drivers. You didn't read or research your post too much did you.bardern wrote:I swore to myself I was done with posting on F-H. I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but F-H is now known in the area as the home of the "Looney anti bass boat and bass tourney" site.
ALMOST EVERY post anymore turns into a pee pee match between a few parties. Too bad because all the quality posts and posters are being overshadowed the sites Loonies.
I wonder how these conversations would go if all parties were face to face and could not hide behind a monitor?
C'mere and tell me bud... I'm Mr. rich stuff aren't I? That's what you called me. You demonstrated your ignorance to the world when you wrote that. And you made a threat against my "runabout" as you called it... I welcome you to come and try something. I welcome you.Ted Takayaki wrote:Listen I.... I don't know who you are nor do I give a sh!t...
