Bass, Walleye, Perch, Pike, Sunfish, Rock Bass and More :)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bass, Walleye, Perch, Pike, Sunfish, Rock Bass and More :)

Post by stetco »

Alright, so after enjoying everyone’s posts so far, I figured I’d should stop being lazy and post a few pics too. These are all fish caught in my 12’ Kick butt Scott Canoe over the past few months. ENJOY.

Let’s start off with a nice bucket. No clue what its weight was. Got my first nickel? Maybe, maybe not! What you FHers think???
Image

Now here is a musky some dude pulled out of Rideau River near Kars. Apparently it died in the shallows over winter when it iced over. Poor guy, he was well bloated and being eaten by turtles. Too bad!
Image

Moving on to a nice little slab…
Image

And a few more black slabs …
Image

This shot is from an early spring trip on the Ottawa river where I was skunked, so I throw some rocks in the still water to take some pics… that kept me entertained if the fish weren’t biting. It was still a very day nice to be on the water.
Image

Check out this monster pan fish… is he big or what? PB sunfish for me hahaha… kept him for my father-in-law… he eats pannies.
Image

And now we have some MONSTER Ottawa River Pike. Yes, I took 24/7’s advice to catching trophy pike and this is what turned out. Thanks 24/7…just outstanding! He tells me to fish 10-20 FOW with big spinners and that’s what I do and all I could muster up are these little hammer handles. Oh well just joking 24/7, your still the pike/trout/bass KING. Keep at it buddy!! I’ll hook into a nice trophy at some point!!
Image

Moving on to some very nicely colored walleye…
Image

And a not so green walleye! Check out the pattern on this one… is this what you guys call a blue Sauger?
Image

Let’s mix it up with a few baby Canadian Geese… awe cute!!!
Image

OK back to the fish dammit, nice SMB … again no clue on the weight, time for a digital scale? Nope! I like guessing!!!
Image
Image

And another… LOVE the stripes on this one… and don’t laugh at the hat and bandana! I’m not trying to act gangsta, they both serve a very good purpose. I sprayed both of them with tones of bug spray and it keeps my head and neck clear of those pesky mosquitoes. YEAH BABY!
Image

Alright, another bucket. My expression in this pic is priceless. I’ll never hear the end of it from my gf. I look like a retarded! Oh well, the fish is more important than the angler, so the picture stays regardless of the humiliation!!!
Image

Here’s a pic from many year ago of me being a smart butt at lake Simcoe heheh … don’t know why they put up that sign, there was no fish sanctuary or anything…I guess it was more towards not bothering the locals … they must have lobbied the local municipality to put some signs up… the guy across the channel came screaming, “hey you, can’t you see there is a no fishing sign?” I said “Yea dude, don’t get your panties in a knot, I’m moving to another spot, I just want a pic” ehheh that was that!!
Image

Jumbo perch…
Image

Nice Rock Bass…
Image

Anyone know where this is … Very local place :D … I gotta get into hunting birds, but right now fishing is more enjoyable…
Image

1 of lots of bass caught on Clayton Lake. I launched my canoe at the camping spot on the lake and some chubby little kid charged me $10 bucks hahah most people I talked to said it was $5 bucks. I guess I got the “special” rate … its not much, I’m just ranting but I’m not going there again. I think a bunch of kids run that place … and they are very rude.
Image

Ocean fishing …
Image

Check out my PIMPED out fishing rig…. Although I rarely setup the stabilizers anymore… but I know I will regret it when I capsize and loose all my gear!!! Makes all you Bass boat owners jealous eh??
Image

Ending off with a beautiful sunset shot…
Image

Hope all of you enjoyed the report and hopefully more to come this summer.

I'd love to get out of my canoe and into a boat sometimes, so if any of you ever have room, I'd love to tag along. MUCH thanks to marcthefisherman for taking me out in his boat. I tie my own knots and you don't have to worry about me :D ...

ALL RIGHT, I'm OUT!

Stetco.

Icy318, the stabilizers are basically two inflatable seats from a Canadian Tire inflatable boat which I don't use anymore ... too much time to inflate and its was very heavy. Basically, anything that floats you can use as stabilizers. But nothing I have used works perfect as you can tell, they are not very hydrodynamic :( ...
