The Walleye Scene on Mississippi Lake

This season, if you go out fishing for walleye on Mississippi Lake, you will not be disappointed. You can catch numbers of them if you position yourself correctly. So far, they have been biting on a yellow jigging grub, I use the YUM Walleye Grubs. You can also catch them on a night crawler spinner, using a 6" Natural coloured Berkley Gulp! night crawler. The good thing is that when you go fishing there, you will probably catch plenty of 2009 spawned fish, and that is a great sign. Remember to practice catch and release when catching the bigger 3 pound and up fish, which are considered bigger spawners for Mississippi Lake. Grasshopper point is producing walleye well for yet another season. I hope to see you out there!

Now that Bass and Muskie are open I barely get out for eyes. If I do I head up to Dalhousie Lake as I can get em from shore in the evening.
Walleye fishing is fun, but they are indeed finicky. I find what works one week, won't work the next. Jigging, bottom bouncing, slow death, cranks etc......
It can be a ton of fun for sure, but also a lot of work at times.....
If they aren't biting....forget it!
