Nice directions Jamsers, however the problem is to actually locate the launch off Ch Du Barrage. If someone could pinpoint that on Google Maps it would be great. Been up and down that road twice so far, the second time I stopped and asked someone walking along the road ( I presume they lived along there ) if they knew where the launch was, to which they replied, "There is no public launch on Lac Grand"
So who knows......
So who knows......

Hmmmmm
Not sure how I'd take that Zimbo....to be honest.
Either they just don't want people fishing "their" lake or there really isn't a public launch.
So if someone told you no public launch, and another guy in a white truck is chasing people down....I think you may have to access the lake via another waterbody.
From the Google map it doesn't show that the lakes are connected. So I am in the same boat as you in that until a boat launch or access point can be pinpointed its probably best to go elsewhere....

lac Ste. Marie
Hey Zimbo
I was thinking of checking out lac Ste. marie myself sometime. What type of fish are generally caught in there? Is it mostly lake trout or are there other species (such as bass) in there as well?
Thanks

mob77, I heard there was good largemouth bass, thats all I needed to hear to get me interested. I can only assume there are also smallmouth. From what I can see on Google Maps, Lac Ste-Marie is connected to the Gatineau River, so I assume what ever is in the Gatineau , is in the lake to.
I am new to the area so this is all guess work for me.
Sorry for hijacking your thread Jamsers

LOL! No hijack Zimbo!
I don't get my feathers ruffled as easy as some here! LOL!
You guys are lucky to have so many small lakes around the Gatineau's that contain so many different species of fish.
I have a house in the Land' O Lakes region. Some good angling but I much prefer those smaller, less hammered ones you know???
Fished a BAOO tournament yesterday on White lake! Talk about TRAFFIC....eugh!

Jamsers, you don't absorb info too well do you? I've already stated that the guy in the pick-up is at the very end of the road over-looking Chemin Barrage... a short 1/2km of road. The LAUNCH IS ON LAC GRAND... as has been previously stated several times!
Good job on the directions but a sad fail on your comments regarding the google maps picture. The lake is accessed via a short channel of less than 40m off of LAC GRAND... as has been previously stated as well.
Nice try, buddy.
Maybe chat up BassAddict and Fishing24/7 as they have boated in there... and then offer up some directions even though you've never been there!
Nice try, buddy.
FYI: It might be best to stick to giving out directions to places you have actually been to and areas that you know...
PS: Google maps thanks you

I know... I've used this launch maybe 20 times?Zimbo wrote:Nice directions Jamsers, however the problem is to actually locate the launch off Ch Du Barrage. I think you think its a driveway to a cottage when you drive by it. Go down Barrage take one of the offshoots nearer to the end or closer to the middle and its on your left. You're above the launch when you drive by, there is a brownish building slightly shrouded by trees to the left of the launch. The launch could accomodate 3-4 trailers side by side but the entrance is only a single.
Seriously, this area is very small and its hard to believe that one cannot locate the launch...
Fisher4life I don't want to get into a tit for tat with you on where (and if) there is indeed a place to launch a boat on lac grand (to access lac vert) but if it is so easy to locate why won't you post an image of where the launch is located (using google maps). Better yet, you could always just provide us with the number of the sign beside the road that leads to the launch (as 95% of the roads stemming from the main road have signs with numbers of them).
I appreciate your advice, but your lack of clarity of directions reinforces my belief that there is nowhere to launch a boat on this lake (unless u own property there of course).
I already wasted a couple of hours looking for it (with no success) so unless I hear of something more accurate, I will not make the trek to Lac Grand/lac Vert again and I'd recommend the same to other fellow fishhawkers.

Fine... so be it, can't blame me if you can't find a launch in a minuscule area. It's not sign posted, eh, buddy... it might look like an ordinary driveway to you... we found no problem though.
I could and I will take note on the next time I go there. Usually my buddy drives and we just go right in and launch.. so sorry buddy that i didn't pay attention to some address signs
These are the cold hard facts:
1)look at google maps and see the roads that off-shoot Barrage nearer the end but not all the way to Lac Vert
2) the launch is on one of these off-shoots.. there is only 2-3
and they are short
3) don't go all the way down barrage to lav vert... its private, hence the annoying guy in the pick-up
4) the road is higher than the launch, and may look like a driveway, it didn't to me but alas... seems like some people seem to be a little slow...
5) if you can't find it... well...
maybe slow down
alot
