Just a note about Quebec Lake.
We met two other fishermen the whole time on Quebec and several on Big Gull.
They all said that with the changing water temperature fish were much less willing to bite.
It was a nice lake but most sites were missing grills although we found a great one and stayed 4 days.
4 days = 2 Walleye, 3 Bass.
Pretty slim but we beat out others on the main lake with no Walleye.
The portage was less than 30 feet (land ridge and not an actual dam) and a little muddy on the Quebec Lake side.

Thanks for the update. I've already lined up someone to come with me next summer to check out Quebec Lake on kayaks.Ottawa wrote:Just a note about Quebec Lake.
Fishing has been mediocre at best on Big Gull this year. Not too many fish and the fish that did hit were small. I hope it was the weird weather and not the lake in general.
All the best.
Our fishing was off this summer as well and I don't think it was just Big Gull.
I've never fished from a kayak. Must be different if you hook a good fish.
Heading up the Big Lake (the guy in the jacket actually submersed the pontoons and we lost some equipment going in.)

Remember also that if you are camping over these are not Provincial campsites. We had to build a few items.

That's funny... on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, I was fishing with a buddy in the morning before hauling the boat out for storage and we passed over a white toilet that was sitting upright on the bottom of the lake in about 7 feet of water.Ottawa wrote:Remember also that if you are camping over these are not Provincial campsites. I've never fished from a kayak before but I'm guessing a decent fish will be able to drag it around a bit during the battle. Should be interesting anyway...
