as far as I understand (living 5min from a reserve) natives are allowed to harvest fish in their waters for their own personal use and for ceremonial use. neither includes selling the fish to feed their families, is it illegal, yes, is it worth bitching about, probably not. it is going to happen whether we like it or not.
gkilla, if you are one of those people of asian decent that line the banks equipped with a white bucket and keeping every single fish you hook, then yes i would call you a white bucket canadian, if not, which i doubt you are if your a member here then no, your no different than the rest of us.
Isnt this illegal?
Why are people defending this guy?
Just because our government made the mistake of giving Indians More Rights than the majority of Canadians doesn't mean it is right or that I recognize his so called rights. He is wrong, he should be publicly criticized, and I hope some politicians grows some nutz and put an end to this sort of thing and much worse hunting practices.
I suggest the entire fish hawk forum exercise our rights and call this guy non stop, overwhelming him so he will not bother to try to do this again. 200 calls a day would deter anyone and prevent the sale of his fillets.
