The boat was back from being fixed and we hit Mississippi lake for the first time in over a month yesterday evening.
It was very windy and there was 2-3 ft whitecaps, but we didn't care, just happy to be back fishing. On the positive side, don't they call that a walleye wind?
We didn't manage any walleye, but did catch 2.5 pikes.
2.5?? you may ask yourself.
I lost a nice pike at the boat, by eyeball measurements, I'd say anywhere from 6-7lbs. Had her boatside and then she made a run for it, tore ther lure right from her mouth. I might have had the drag set a little tight, but I'm still figuring out the right drag setting on this new ABU C3.....I guess she saved me the hassle of having to unhook her lol
Back on the water at last

Great to hear you are back on the water...
Yesterday was a good walleye chop...but I usually find the South Wind is best on Mississippi for the spots I like to fish.
Hope to bump into you and your dad sometime at the launch or on the water.
Good luck, and welcome back to the boating world!
(BTW WIG when are you back on the water in your new ride

John.....That has been the biggest pike I have hooked into on the Miss. Funny thing was my father and I were just talking abouit pike and asking ourselves: most folks don't keep pike and all most catch are small ones...where do the big ones go?
ET.....It was great to be back out on the water!
I hope to meet you as well!

Hey Markus...Markus wrote:ET, where ya been??
I was going to call search and rescue today and make sure you weren't laying in a ditch somewhere waiting for a back cast!
Hope the back is feeling better. Any luck with the eye's as of late?
Just got over my back problem (pain) and have only managed a few days out on the water (Had to cancel three walleye tournaments because I could not walk or sit in a rocking boat

Been busy coding a new software application so I have been working seven days a week...did manage to get out fishing with my little guy yesterday for Fathers Day. We caught a bucket full of rock bass and he want'd to stay all night

Hope to get out this week and try for some Lakers...
