Hey guys just wondering when you head down to the Bay of Quinte to do some ice fishing where is the best public acess point. I do have a snow machine so I am mobile once on the ice. Im planning a trip there in a month or so and I dont have a cue where to head! Thanks,

Not sure if you read the www.quintefishing.com board but there is lots of info there. I would also recommend a guide if its your first trip down. You'll learn alot about the bay and the ice conditions. There are a few spots that the ice conditions can drastically change because of current in both a short time and a short distance.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
For what it's worth I agree 100% with Scott. Get your self a guide for the day. Relatively cheap and can really help make a day of memories. The bay is a large body of water and knowledge or lack there will play a big factor on your out come.

Any of the local boat launches. Be carefull if your heading out on a sled.
There is a lot of currant in quinte.
Best to stop into any of the local bait shops and ask them about the ice conditions.
Hay bay area is usally first to Ice. More eating size fish. Bellville area is great for Big fish. But the ice there is more unstable at times.
Good Luck

"My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it."
If you are going later in the season I would try to make it mid to late Feb. Jan. can be pretty tough on the bay. Run and gun if you dont get a guide until you get on some active fish. Beware the ice as well easily have 12" in one spot and 2-3" in another due to current. Funny place to fish you can jig all day with little or no luck and then walk off with your count in 15 minutes when they turn on. Best of luck.
