Who's fishing Petrie this week end ?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Petrie

Post by Seaweed »

The question should be who wasn't fishing Petrie last weekend.

The ice hut village has never been bigger and they are almost all the way out to the point now. They will have to elect a mayor soon. Let us just hope that this mild rainy spell passes quickly and lets everyone get back out.

Rumour has it that the eyes were biting last weekend.... 8) You needed sunblock out there on Saturday.

The trick I found was to pound bottom like crazy to "puff the bottom". Walleye bay is all sand and this technique works wonders as it makes a big cloud of dust, which looks like schooling baitfish (perch) feeding on bottom which later attracts walleyes. Give that a try next time and it will produce! Mobility is another key to success. I like to move around and drill 10-50 holes a day and even more on slow days to find the active walleyes.

got down to crappie bay on sunday around 9:30, I've learnt over the years fishing there that the bite usually gets good anytime after 10, and i wasn't wrong, i caught 4 pike and a 2plus pound bass in about 4 hours and even caught a pike on one guys tip-up for him.Not much after that with the ocassional hit once in awhile, the new bells seem to work okay Wally boss but it was a beautiful day on the bay swapping stories with some of the boys, now I'm off to Cuba on thursday this week so maybe some fishing stories when i get back. :D
