Picton/Prince Edward County info...????

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Picton/Prince Edward County info...????

Post by Roughneck1860 »

Every fall in late October myself and RoughneckGirl head away for a week of "us time" and do some camping. With 4 teenagers we need it.....LOL. This year we are looking at going to SandBanks Provincial Park. What I'm wondering is about fishing opportunities in the area at that time of year and any other interesting points of interest. I know the BOQ has some good Walleye fishing in November but I don't know much about there accept for that. Any info or suggestions on the area would be great. Are there any tracks of Crown Land in the area to explore?

Thanks
Tim

Prince Edward county - October

Post by Superdad »

Roughneck.

I would think that Sandbanks Park might be closed to camping in October, but you can search for it and find out their dates.

Try the Prince Edward County Chamber of commerce.

Drop Scott a line - He's over at West Lake and help direct you.

Hope that helps you get started looking

We've looked into it a bit already and it appears that its open for camping up until November 11th. I'll check out those links though.

Thanks

Roughneck1860,

Superdad gave you a great link to the chamber of commerce. They are very helpful. There is lots to do in the area, the late harvest wines are just starting in October so if you are into wines/wineries it is a cool time of year to visit the local wineries. Most of the private parks close up around Thanksgiving, but as you know Sandbanks keeps a portion open. Their sites offer the most privacy although at that time of year there are not a lot of people around so everything will be quiet.

I have a waterfront site that is pretty nice although it can be windy in October. The fishing on West Lake isn't bad, although Quinte is the place to be in Late October, and the Picton launch is about a 10 min drive from Sandbanks. Give me a call and I would be glad to offer any help I can whether you are staying with me or not.
