Topwater Mouse Lure

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I will post their reply as soon as and if I get it. The Bettencourt Rodent Swimming Rat was not what they were using on the show.

The fact that the hooks come up over the top of the bait is what keeps it snag proof. It does make hook ups a little harder until you get the hang of it.

The one that you showed would not be suitable to throw into any sort of cover with two trebles hanging from it...

Sorry, I should have clarified........the mouse he was using is not meant for the "slop" because it has two treble hooks.

It's not my intent to be condescending here, but cmon... I have never seen a white mouse swimming in a lake... :D
Bass will eat anything that the can egulf into there mouth, mammals included.

You do not see mice swimming in lakes, because everything in the dam world wants to eat them! From Birds of Prey, to Fox's, to yes, even a hungry Bass.

Bass attack Buzz-Baits, now if a Bass will think anything that looks like a Buzz-Bait is food, than i think a furry little warm blooded critter will look like fillet minion!

I saw that Fishin' Canada episode months ago and contacted them The realistic mouse was fur covered and had large ears that disturbed the water when reeling in. I was told that it is a prototype and I would be notified when it went into production and sale.

Cheers,

Bill
i have found in the case of "prototypes", its simply not the case. usually they are lures found outside of their contractual obligations, so they spin it off as a prototype.

I guess thats why we see so much TV fishing show advertising...cause it works!

If you recall, the lake they were fishing, (2nd filmed show there), its full of bass that'll eat just about anything...

go pull that thing around the 'skrat or quinte or another heavily pressured body of water....i dont think the results would quite be the same.

had they thrown a pop-r, hulapopper, hell, a jitterbug, the results would have been the same...

My good friend owns a tackle shop, and when i ask him what is selling, he always replies, whatever mercer is selling this week.... :D

it's true. :D

I concur.

He could have dragged one of my gym socks across that lake and had the same results (stinkier than Gulp Alive).

Fish eat mice all the time. Bass, pike, musky and trout for sure eat mice and frogs; and even ducks/snakes. I don't own one, but I am going to get a mouse fly for pike fishing.

I am not sure if a fish would be able to tell the difference between a frog or mouse anyway....some thing swimming across the lake that fits in my mouth = YUM!

i have done a few off those mouse lures in the past.

very easy.

go to a dollar store or pet store and by the mouse for cats..the toys.

then just past a leader or steal wire end to end..singles hooks or treble hooks and there you go.

and i spray on them the water proof spray on them..the one you use for winter boots.

cost you mabe 2$ eatch if you get them at dollar store. 8)
