Low Water Levels?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Low Water Levels?

Post by kingston-Mike »

Hi everyone,

Here in Kingston, I'm seeing really low water levels (down 'bout 2 feet) for Lake Ontario & the Rideau. I'm assuming due from the lack of snow this year and resulting melt/run-off.

What would the expectations be as we enter the soft-water season? For me, I tend to stick to a Canoe, but for others with motors....

Your thoughts?

I'm seeing the same thing here on the Ottawa R.....there are some shoals that are actually out of the water as of this morning....this is something you would not normally see until end of June, beginning of July...

There's more snow further North but not that much to make a real difference....

Pike will be easy to find early in the season and the walleye run down the Blanche River back to Lake Temiskaming should be monumental barring heavy rainfall in the days before opener. I'm liking low water!:D

tight lines,

They are low in Southwestern Ontario . Lake St Clair is only down about a foot compared to about 3 weeks ago. There was an ice damn in the St Clair River that caused the water to drop about 2 feet. We have had some recovery but I think we will have low levels this year.

We had virtually no precipitation after December, with such a small snow melt, and a predicted dry summer. We could be in for some really low water levels this summer!!

hmmm..maybe so...but it's not gonna be too good for the bass boats...
however me and my canoe.... :)

Was on the 1000 Island Parkway this afternoon for some perchin' at the bridge. Water was down a good 3-4 feet and one of the creeks west of Halsteads Bay was a virtual mud flat.
