Best Pike lure you go to!!!!!

For trolling (and occasional casting), it's difficult to beat a Super Shad Rap (try Red & White or Perch). Larger Williams Wablers or Len Thompson spoons also produce well.

In the heat of summer, you may have to add an ounce or two of weight to get down to trophy size fish.

In the late summer and fall - especially on the St. Lawrence, suggest you try some of the smaller sized muskie plugs i.e. 8" Believer or Cisco Kid.

something tell me that flippin/pitching this 3/4 oZ jig will score me some big pike!

My largest pike last season came on a 3/4oz flippin' jig. The pike came in at 38". I was a little bent when I first saw it. I thought it was my first 6+ lb LMB. Oh well.....

My favorite pike lures are a black 1/2 oz spinner bait with 1 willow and 1 colorado. I also keep a lipless crank and a silver/blue Ripplin' Redfin at the ready. When conditions are right, out come the Zara Spooks.

3/ In-line Spinner Double Loon or Vibrax
Important that these are rigged with a lightweight Titanium leader like the ones that Stringease makes. These don't kill the lure's action like regular wire leaders.

My best advice is dont use what everyone else is using. Big pressured pike arent as dumb as most would like to think. Go BIG, go DEEP.

True, even though for a short period, those huge mothers get right up shallow. A friend of mine has a wooded lot that borders the ottawa with a small creek running thorugh. In the spring when it floods, that woods is full of pike, and i mean FULL!! IT's so cool seeing all the little males huddled around a great giant female. We've never tried fishing them though, just let them do their thing. Scenes like that remind you of how important those big females are, the ratio of hammer handle males to females is well over 20:1

hmmmm......tough one.......
this past sseason, I caught numerous mediochre pike on worms. (19-26")
I got my biggest pike which was roughly 30" on a carolina rig, that was sitting on the surface with about 5" ofline out. i was laying down, and I see a decent pike flair its gills, and lunge at it!
That was the only time i ever caught a pike on a carolina rig though.....
i caught the majority of MY better pike on White Red Eye spinner baits....
they put up for a fbn fight! good luck

a lake.... not so much.

iv been fishing pike lakes and the big ones that ARE shallow.

are easy spooked, dont bite and dont care about what you throw at them.

there just there...... doing nothing... and bitting nothing.

YES on a rainy windy day they will hit.

but im so sick of the snot rockets and hammer handles....

the big girls are sitting in the deep.....im not saying 30-40 FOW.

by deep im saying...

the 15 -20 FOW weed beds.

long cabage..... weed lines..... get down there in there face..
