Minn Kota Endura Vs. Traxxis?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Minn Kota Endura Vs. Traxxis?

Post by zarbat007 »

Hi everyone.

I'm debating whether to get a endura or traxxis for my porta-bote (10 ft, usually 3 people average).

Does Traxxis really last 4-5 times longer? (battery charge).

And lastly, would 45lb drain the battery in a fast rate? What size should I get?

Thanks in advance.

I'd go with the Traxxis - I have the older version of Traxxis and there are two principle advantages:

1) Much better battery life.

2) Better variable speed i.e., 0 to 100 rather than discrete settings of 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 (or similar). This is really helpful to get your drift speed "just right". As well, the better battery life is a function of this continuous variable speed.

Good luck,

CD

What canoedude said. Get variable speed if you can afford it. You will find it very useful to keep a light boat such as the porta-boat positioned properly.

A 45lb thrust motor on a porta-bote would probably go 50-60MPH at top speed. Make sure you are sitting down when you giv'er.

Damn I just got back from Lebaron, got their 45 lb traxxis 5 peed. Couldn't justify the $130 difference for variable speed. 55 lb might be a bit too much for my small boat. I'd get the 40lb if it was available.

I just told my friend about your motor, I'll definitely let you know if he wants it.

What kind of battery is it? Brand etc.
