Looking to break cherry on the Tourny circuit!

Hey Guys,

I've always wanted to try a fishing tournament of some kind, and I don't know that much about them locally. I've heard of Renegade, Bass Masters, etc. As some of you may know, I'm in the middle of a boat rebuild project so I have no rig to use. I'm wondering if anyone out there would like to try out a newbie partner? I can do the sponsor side of things and prep in any other way to get us outfitted....

Take a look at ottawa bassmasters. its done as a boater non boater format.

also go and post at the renegade forum there may be someone looking for a partner. but it is a bit late in the year to be looking to hook up for this season.

Might want to check out the SEBO events. Its a boater-non boater format. You can be with the same boater every tournament or go with a different one every time. Good entry fee and great payout. Good thing about SEBO is you can sign up the day of.

Yep, my cottage is on white lake. I know there's a few tournaments there every year, but didn't know anything about them....I'd still have the no-livewell-problem though... I'll check out sebo and go from there, thanks guys!

I would suggest SEBO events. Its has a great range of skill levels and it allows anglers to pick and choose their playing fields and hone their skills before they commit to a scheduled format.

White lake is the opener I think? Good event, 60+ boats and lots of fun with pent up first event of the year competition.

Good luck, and just commit. Getting involved in bass tournaments is easier then you think. Don't get intimidated by the boat show and totally extend your invitation to all the anglers out there indicating you are new and excited to fish. Most will stop just short of holding your hand through the procedures, just to ensure you have a great time and continue to compete.

Beware though!!!

Sebo is a great circuit..
but you need a partner, they do not match u up with one.

any of the bass clubs u can join as a non boater and they will match u up.

i checked the sebo on w/l is june 26,they had 82 boats last year,only 17 pre registrants,so far,entry fee is $140 per boat/team,you do need a livewell with aerator pumps,liability ins.,and a safety kill switch cord,if you have steering controls up front,i.e. not a tiller motor. I remember heading to the launch last year with my wally boat to do a little somethin different from my usual madawaska outing and seeing the huge lineup,so i kept on truckin'.

I'm just having my mornin' coffee,and getting ready to go do some wiring on my boat,,and it hits me,If you have no offers i'll take you out to the w/l sebo,it's been a long time since i fished the florida bassmasters series,but I have fished white lake alot,and i do have my ol Cajun tournament boat and her freshly re built mercury being bolted onto her this week. I just plumbed both livewells and installed new pumps,so,I guess you could say she's ready to rock. pm me I'm just around the corner in arnprior . I fish every wknd. anyhow, so it may as well be on white lake that day. All you would need is your rods tackle,rain gear,life jacket.and a few sandwiches,(travel lite),thats a small lake for 80 boats,plus the regular cottager traffic,so,i would recommend registering now,to get an early blast off position.

Unfortunately Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters sign-up deadline has passed.

It's frustrating to see so many anglers wait this long to decide to fish in a series or tournaments in general. We have already "turned away" 5 prospective new members who were all going to become members as non-boaters. Our club does run a true boater/non-boater format and it is therfore crucial to have a balance of boaters & non-boaters to ensure all of our members have a partner to fish with at each of our 5 events.

Please keep us in mind for next season. In fact come in the Fall when our monthly meetings begin and get in early.

Painter; I wish I knew about that, but like I said I'm a newbie to the whole tournament thing and don't know anything about how it works. I had no idea you had to sign up that early to be part of some of the events. I will check out bassmasters for sure and hopefully get a spot. Thanks for posting...

I dont want to be in bassmasters,Im just offering to let the guy fish in 1 walk on tournament ,in a properly rigged boat to see if he likes it or not and to have a fun day on the water. If he likes it he can buy the boat(just kidding) I know white lake pretty well,but it sounds like I will get a lesson from a guy with 30 years on it,sounds good to me.

Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters isn't actually a tournament series, we are a fishing club.

Apart from our 5 bass fishing tournaments we also do a lot of other things.

At our monthly meetings (October - May) our members pick & choose our tournament waters & dates. We participate in the yearly " Kid's Fishing Day" held at Dow's Lake every July. Our members randomly choose a boat launch area somewhere and we do a shoreline clean-up. We have this year for the first time applied to the MNR for a "grant" so the club can sink conifer trees in a lake to improve fish habitat & spawning. We also have members & others at our meetings hold talks / seminars on different fishing products, rods, lures and or techniques.

Check us out, we're more than just fishing.

Sounds good Ram, that's really what I'm looking for, to try a tournament out. I'm not really interested in joining a full-on club at this point. Maybe I shouldn't have said 30 years at WL...the pressure is on now!! ha ha! I'm sure we'll find a few good ones
