Lake Cecebe...Any info?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lake Cecebe...Any info?

Post by daowen »

I am going up this weekend for some fishing. It is a little bit of a haul but I think it will be worth it.

Does anyone have any information on this lake?

What is there, what works and such?

I was there last summer and we only got small bass. It rained every day though.

This weekend..... I think all you can fish for is panfish??

Well anything that is open at this time in the zone. I was hoping that someone knew a little about the lake and the species that inhabited it so I could load my tackle for those type that are open.

Been on Cecebe a couple times near Magnetawan. Let's just say you'll enjoy the scenery. I remeber catching lots of big perch, rock bass, small smallmouth, small pike and bullheads. Hook and worm will do the trick there.

Hi
We stayed at a Lodge on Ahmic Lake which is the lake just below the locks from Cecebe.
When we fished above the lock in Cecebe all we caught were Pike, which was fun.
There's some big ones in there and lotsa hammer-handles.

Try using either a good ole Red Devil spoon for them, or topwater Buzz baits. They went crazy on the Buzz baits for about 30 minutes then they all disappeared. A yellow spoon with 4 red diamonds on it worker too, but not as well as the Red Devil.
There's a small river mouth with a little bridge over it, try casting from the lake up into the river mouth. We hooked into a monster in there, but we lost him.
Ahmic has some trophy Walleye, but they are a bugger to catch. We got one in a week of fishing but it was a 6.5 lb'er. Caught on a Lindy rig with live minnows.
here's where we caught it.... when you go through the lock to Ahmic, travel down the river past the golf course on your right, ..... where the river opens up wide, just before the lake itself, there is a 60' hole right there..... work that hole and hopefully you'll hook into something.
Enjoy your week, and let me know how you made out.

Best Regards,
Muggzi

It's just panfish in zone 15 until the 3rd Sat in May (a week later than down here in zone 18) I'm from the Mag originally, and as others have mentioned there are good Pike in Cecebe, along with some eyes as well

I think the only fish of interest at this time is perch, never tried for them much so can't offer much help

Cecebe is pretty much a large opening on the Magnetawan River though, so there is current in many parts, not sure if that helps much, but good luck, it's not a bad place to waste away a few days!
