Have rented a cottage on Indian the last couple years that comes with a small tinny and motor but this year I'm going to have my boat there and will be more "focused" on fishing. (Wife is giving me 2 days alone) Of course fishing buddies were contacted next day after this revelation, and the wheels are in motion. Well the obsessing has started anyway.
Have fished Indian, Clear and Newboro Lake (which might not be correct name) and know on good days you can basically "sight fish" that rock looks good BAM, oh there's a stump POW, the bass are great don't get me wrong but a Gator once in a while would be nice. It seems all but 2 of the pike, one caught one which followed (sadly bigger of the 2) have been rockets. I know there in there but it's time to try another location.
So long story long I'm thinking the 2nd day I should put in somewhere else. Just to change things up this year. 45 mins would be furthest I want to go cause I'm just kinda thinking one lake up, one down, other side of highway?
I know there is no sure thing but would just like to know I'm in some good water that others have fished and landed one or two.

Btw Boat launch link to the "geocite" is down. So launch location in relationship to Chaffeys would be added bonus.
Chaffeys Locks
Yes I know I wasn't saying there wasn't, but for whatever reason I've had no luck in three years trying to catch a nice size one.
So I want to try somewhere else. I'll still be fishing Indian most of the time we're there and the first day with my buddies and may luck into one this year but I still want to relocate on day 2 and thought I would ask for ideas...

Our family spent many years at a cottage on Clear, between Indian and Newboro. I have fished the Rideau system past Smiths Falls. I would say that the fish you are catching are representative of anything within a 45min. drive along the Rideau System.
Charleston & the Big Rideau have bigger pike but they are far and few between in my experience.
The St. Lawrence out of Gananoque would put you in bigger pike waters with a shot at a musky as well, and would be my recommendation.

JOnes Falls to Brewers Mills
I fish Brewers Mills to Jones Falls section.. can't say that there isn't large pike because I have been into, and seen a number.. but usually early and late in the season.. so probably not worth pulling up stakes from Indian.. I agree with DS (sorry) if you want a chance at big pike head for the St. Lawerence.. cheers C5

My biggest pike came from Loughborough. 36" and 9lbs. Not huge but I've caught alot in the 30" class there. Newboro, Bob's, Whitefish, you can catch alot but I've never had anything over 30" at any of them. Had a huge one (over 40" and fat) follow to my boat on the St Lawrence but she wouldn't bite. Last June, found a floater on the St L that was 46" and heavy. Fresh too, not dead long.
