Some Good News on the Buckhams Bay Launch
I was there yesterday and the rip-rap rock pile at the end of the ramp is gone. I don't know yet if it was the city or a local resident that scooped it out but THANK YOU to whomever is responsible for that. I was able to launch and load with no problems even with the low water.
Also, our city councillor announced that there will be a floating dock in place within two weeks.
Thank you to all who wrote or phoned our local and federal government to complain about it.
I got my lower unit and prop back from the machine shop and it tested out perfect yesterday. It was Jim's Machine Shop in Arnprior. Found him using the search function on this forum. Fast and quality service.

Yes Steve, I was really impressed with the set up he has. Major investment in equipment. I think my prop is even better than new due to the way he balances them. I'd swear there is less vibration at lower RPMs.
I just checked with Eli (our city councillor) and it was his office that sent in the back hoe to clear out the launch even though it's technically Federal jurisdiction. I thanked him for that.

Which brings up a good point....if it's that high above the water/ground wouldn't code require it to have a railing to prevent people from falling off?Georges wrote:I spoke to Eli after sending him a email at his office ,he got the contractor to fix ramp and said he hopes to get floating dock ASAP but the main one will have to stay I guess until somebody falls off and hurts themselves .

That right there might be the "law-breaker" that get some attention and has it fixed up. I'm sure someone in bi-law office would know if the residential rules apply to this structure. When I built my deck, if the height was more than say 18inches (not 10000% sure so do not quote me) a railing must have been installed.jwhite wrote: Which brings up a good point....if it's that high above the water/ground wouldn't code require it to have a railing to prevent people from falling off?
