No doubt, in Europe they keep them in barrels piled on top of each other
before Christmas for weeks and they survive just fine.
I remember a while back reading a thread about Carp and how much poeple hated these creatures ect ect ect......... so I guess a couple floating Carp is a great thing.

hopefully it's just khv!
but khv doesn't explain the dead cats on the ottawa or the dead muskies and sunfish on the rideau.
i still say it's a combo of hot weather, no rain, and low water.
Just to add to the discussion, every year around the beginning of June there seems to be alot of floaters on the Madawaska in one area, almost like the died during ice season and then were pushed up by the years new vegetation, they appear to be untouched, just a bunch of dead pan fish, severly decayed as well
