Fete de la peche in hull today!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fete de la peche in hull today!

Post by Rideau-snag »

So i arrived around 4-5am this morning and got caught in the down poor of rain. Once it stopped around 7am i got some good fishing in and started hitting them beautiful speckled trout, Got the little brother and father to come down and try it out. All of three of us got our limit (5 fish per person a day). Then headed over to manotick bait to stock up om some gear for tommorow morning. Anyone looking to have a good time with your kids head on down to the canel in hull. They got rods and worms for the kids and plenty of space and fish for everyone. ( i believe they stocked 10,000 trout this year) Anyway guys all in all it was a great family outing.

better to be catch and cook.

they put them in there to get caught...all off them.

the more that get caught the better....BUt have to foolow the regs.

and even if the fete is finish tomotorw the trout will still be there the rest off the year to be caught...a lot off people will be fishing there for the next 2 weeks or so after that less and less people will try.

good luck to all.

there is no net this year..so a lot off trout are at both ends. off the creeks.

license is needed if you live in ontario, only free for quebecers. Ofc you can catch and release some people will probably ask you if thy can keep your fish.

By the way guys the fish tasted great!

Joco is right, the fun doesn't end today. These starving trout will be on the feed for weeks to come hitting anything and everything. Honey worms tipped on a small ice jig were always quick to catch me a limit. I'll likely try my spot one night this week for a few hours before they get flushed. Any big ones put in this year Joco?

Tip Up, let me know when you're heading over. I couldn't/can't go this weekend, but it sounds like a great way to spend an evening this week!

Cheers,

There are literally 100 spots you could do some shore fishing with kids and catch fish. Joco and I have been thru this before but I'd surely think the PQ MNR would be better served promoting fishing as a year round thing instead of dumping trout into a confined area and people get excited about fishing for 2 days a year out of some canal.

I could be wrong though...have been many times...ask Birdee...

ya ive done this trout canal for the last 3 years. Its great for kids to get a fishing course and fish in the tub on land. Great to start them in on fishing free rod and reels etc. Its a great weekend each year and this year especially it wasnt so crowded.

at least the mnr is trying to do something.

i think its a good thing.

yes its kind off confine but not 1005 right now a lot off trout as gone down the litle dam and in the creek..a lot off epoep,a re catching them today and yesterday ion the crrek itself that goes into the ottawariver....so trout not stuck there it can go in the or. if it want to.

i do think its kind off cool tht kid can go there and enbjoy a full weekkend off activity and that litle hour course that the game warden guive to kids and how to clean fish etc is good for them.

plus they guive a full kit to all kids that go trut that little course.
thery do that weeken all over the province ..they did it here in hull but in wakfiled to in the wakefield creek..and in maniwaky in the river up there.

in most place the trout is more stock then here here they put it in that creek but intoehr area they put it in a more adequate creek or river then here.

sher they should push it all year long.but its better then nothing.

plus kids like to catch fish..and in the creek in that weekn the hods are high....nothing better tehn see kids and a big smailles wen they catch a trout or 2.

the prob now kids dont fish and dont like to......most off them..there is a big specieal next weekend on tv about this..how they try to push kids to fish...its a french programee la semaine verte next sunday.

anyay i will try to get myself a few soon.

i did went yesterday to look and i was seeing like 30 trout frome the bridge but nothing over 10 inch long..but still cool to look at.

ho one more thing every time i go there kids are happy to do this weekend thing and they cant wait for next year event..so just this.is anught for me to say its still a good thing.

better to have 2 days off franzy by the creek then 3 week off kids fishing it all summer long..then nothing it guive them something to wish for....for a lot off those kids...down town one..they wont go fishing anywhere hesle.anyway.sadly.
