Fishing trip

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing trip

Post by Codysouth9 »

Hey Hawkers,
My buddy and I are planning a fishing trip on the july 17 weekend. We are looking to go after the usual suspects (walleye, pike, bass and even musky if we are lucky).
Just wondering if anyone knows of a lake within a couple of hours of Ottawa that is decent for these species with nice camping spots, not alot a traffic and preferably not overly large. I would appreciate suggestions to help find a good lake.
Some ideas I've been considering are:
Norcan Lake
Redhorse Lake
Black Donald Lake

The only place I'm aware of on Redhorse is Shawmere: http://www.shawmere.com/ Redhorse has bass, lakers, pike and pannies. It's nice and quiet, all private property arround the lake.

The closest camping I'm aware of is Singleton lake: http://www.singletonlake.ca/ There is a bit of a boat ride from Singleton to Redhorse. Singleton has bass, pike and pannies.

Hope this helps,

I spent a couple May 24's out on Lake clear about 5 years ago. Beautiful camping spots on islands there. Fished hard for walleye and results came back sub-par. I did however have the pleasure of an artistic remodel of my prop on the 35 merc.

Again I appreciate the feedback everyone!

Dont forget the walleye on redhorse DS. Did an after supper troll of the entire lake the one time I was there, in about 2.5 hours boated 3 eyes of decent size, 1 bass and a 6 lb pike. This was however in about 2003.
