Muskrat Lake Report

Fished Muskrat from 7 to noon on Saturday morning. Started trolling by seagull rock with deep divers. Lost a 6+lb pike after it gave up waiting for me while my brother explained how he has 3 nets and left them all at his house hahaha. Toothy took a tip under the boat and popped off before I could get my hand in the water.

Headed straight across to the flats around the bible college. There were several boats there fishing in the weeds around 8-10 feet of water. I moved in closer to about 4-6 feet and started slamming them on a black & white bomber crank bait. Best was a 3.5 lb smally that I had to yank over the side.... caught my newb brother off guard.... guess he didn't know what I meant when I said I am hauling him over and immediately flew it past his nose and into the boat :) Again..... he shouldn't have forgot his nets hahaha.

Went to snake river's mouth for large mouth. They were there and jumping, but no luck in the slop.

On a side note, the launch in the village is in BADDDDDD shape. I watched one guy bounce his trailer off bottom trying to get deep enough to launch a ranger bass boat. Had a hard time trailering my brother's boston whaler style as there's just no water there.... so, if you're heading there good luck!

I like muskrat..lots of different fish to catch there. Looks like you did well.

the launch was great last thursday but the guys from the bass tournament wanted the launch fixed to be more gradual. i wish they had kept quiet, it wouldnt be so bad now. too bad you couldn't land the pike.

Moonshine, What do you mean the launch is bad now? Did the bass boat guys make the water go lower or something? Or did they rut up that cement launch with their trucks?......

apparently they(village works) put some fill in because tournament organizers complained to the MNR about the condition of the launch. they were going to fill in with some stone. i was there when village works were there trying to decide what to do. i haven't seen it yet, but i will keep you posted

I don't think they have done anything yet. The problem is that the water levels are low. So, by the time you get your trailer in deep enough water to launch it, it is dropping off the end of the ramp and trailers are bottoming out. I think if they are planning on putting in stone it will be at that point. Still, just to get your boat to that deep of water, my brother's colorado nearly had it's back bumper in the lake!

i don't have any problem launching there with my 17ft Princecraft and my truck tires never touch the water. i am going in the morning so i will keep you posted.

well the launch isn't too bad now but they filled in the hole and now you need to back in further
