Heres an interesting story for all. Years ago my father gave me his favourite lure. He had it for years but hardly fished anymore. It was one of those lures that didnt catch a whole lot of fish, but when it did it seemed extra special. He had the lure for many years and had actually recieved it out of a case of beer as a promo deal. It was a 3 inch " Old Vienna" yes OV spoon. This is special because this is the beer my father always drank and the beer i have always chose to call my ultimate favourite as well. ( Although i tend to mix it up a little). I was fishing with a buddy of mine at a lake he often frequents, and we were just about at the end of our weekend away so it was time to throw on the " Golden Beer Lure" and give'er a rip before we packed it up for the road. On the third cast out somewhat near the shore from 20 ft out in the boat i snapped into a nice size buckethead. As a big smile came across my face i dragged it close to the boat as it jumped hard out of the water it shook its head....almost looked at me (so it seemed) and snapped the line right above the lure.

Figures. Thats what i remembered saying as silenced filled the boat. We packed up, went home and i went on being bothered. The next year another weekend away, show up, go to the bait shop for register and get our key and there was my "OV" lure hanging off his shelf by a hook.I reached over and flipped it to see the same black oxidizing stain on the back of the lure. I was in total shock, i asked the owner how he got it and he told me he pulled it out of the mouth of a 3 and a half pound Largemouth Bass. Me and buddy looked at each other and started to laugh.

My buddy told him our story like s buddy should, and he laughed even harder. He reached over pulled the hook out of the pine shelf and set it on the counter. He chuckled and said you want the picture of the fish too, I laughed and said no that belongs to you i never got that fish in the boat. ( Wished i had taken it)

Anyhow I brought him some walleye fillets later that week. (He's a great guy). And the lure is no longer in my tackle box, its hanging in my home. And im just glad to have it back. Thanks man. (You know who you are).
