A Bad day at a Lake we never fished before

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

3. Rains 5 hours earlier than it was forecasted

4 . When you finally get to the HOTSPOT ...there is two dudes in a rubber raft smiling from ear to ear.

5. Now to the DISTURBING part

We strike up a conversation ...........any luck boys ?????

Just as Dude A is about reach over the side ( and possibly hold up a stringer of Bass.....

Dude B starts to scream at him......= guilt all over his face

(

Catch any fish boys ???

Dude A now says ...No !!!

So I says to him ...What about the stringer of Monster Bass '' Attached '' to your Raft...

Three Bass over four and a half pounds .....With a half a dozen three pounders to boot........

The most traumatizing thing i've ever seen in my life...

Memo to the two DUDES in the Rubber Dingy ...........

Can Please keep the one pounders....and leave the Bigger Boys for me to catch over and over again.. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Funny thing is... I was the one playing the banjo.

I have to say.... it sucked to see this... just because the bass were SOOooo nice... but hard to fault them for pulling out what they were legally allowed.

Now when we saw them, they had 9 fish... their limit is 12. No size restrictions of any kind.

The teeth on those bugaboos... make a billy goat puke. Moss... peanuts and some sort of sprout... all a nice shade of marbled gray.

@ BA
Garlic breath is your fault. What do expect to happen when you show up at the farm with a metric ton of gourmet garlic? The breath was the least of your worries for smells emitting from me that day... eh?!

Yeah its hard to get too mad at them since they are well within the law .. you are too used to being around people that respect the sport and know that the more you take the less will be there next year.

On a related note ... did you see what they were using for bait !!????

To clear it up, my comment was not because they were taking bass, but because they knew of your "spots"... I've been picked on for taking sturgeon (which I'm legally entitled to... and it tasted great btw), so I really can'tpoop on anyone for taking bass for dinner fare. Although, like most fish, I'll harvest the smaller specimens rather than the larger ones.

Just not out of my backyard!!!

Yikes...!

There were 4 other guys on the shore in the same group keeping every fish they hooked up.

That is 36 fish a day if they stay legal. How long can that be sustained? They are there almost as much as I am. 3 times a week or so... 108 fish a week... that is close to 1300 fish over a three month period of July-August-September. (All within their legal rights...)

That is a lot!!

I was discussing this with BA after this happened. I said that the MNR (on both sides of the river) have no problem messing with rules... why not draw a 100 or 150 km circle around major urban centers and peg the possession limit for any one species at 1 or 2?

I thought of that because the two guys in question come back day after day to catch their limit. Again... not illegal.. but certainly against of the spirit of the law.

It might not stop the gluttony... but it might curtail it. Maybe it would no longer be worth their while to travel for 1 or 2 keepers each...

Then again... maybe I am crying foul just because this is happening in my backyard? I leave that possibility open. I am after all human and susceptible to pettiness. But whatever the reasons... I am now a proponent of taking a serious look at the possession limits.

You know what BA?

I REALLY dont like that report title.

Sounds... unseemly.

Sounds... like a website I would NOT want to stumble upon. "The disturbing reports of Cprince and Two Dudes".

Two Dudes and one Cprince... a little Two Girls One Cup-esque.

Nope... not liking this report title one bit.

even though there is a daily limit, is there not a possession limit as well? in Ontario you are only allowed to have your daily limit in your freezer at home. the only way to be able to keep your limit daily every day is if you are eating your daily catch EVERY day. 8)

I can't stand people like that, they hardly need those fish, probably just city slickers thinking they are cool and want to show their friends
