Shopping for Senkos

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Does anyone know of a good store in the Ottawa area that is well stocked in bass lures? I'm specifically looking for Senkos...

Thanks.
If you're talking Bass, Ed at Paddletails is the guy to go and see. Lots of bass stuff and some bass advice to go with it. If Paddletails doesn't have something you're looking for, Ed will more than likely be able to get it for you.

Definitely, worth the trip. Bring lots of cash, credit cards, debit cards, etc...

You aren't just whistling Dixie either!!!! Just came back from there.. AWESOME Bass shop. I mean... if it was any more bass-y, I would be in the middle of lily pads in a lake.

INCREDIBLE!!

Any more plastic, and I would swear I was in Hollywood.

Worth the trip, no matter where you are. I made the trip from Alcove QC (100kms One Way), and I guarantee you, it will not be the last time.

Great meeting you Ed... see you again soon.

Thanks for all the tips. Lots of options but looks like a visit to Paddletales is a must with all these endorsements...

In my opinion and from my experience, do not get stuck on a certain brand.

If a fish is meant to be caught on a senko style bait, any brand will do the job. If you're not able to locate fish, the brand of bait will not help you in any way.

Not bashing Yamamoto at all, the baits are good and they definitely work. However, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there are plenty of brands that all work as well and cost less, in some cases a lot less.

I think you may be referring to "Kinami" baits, which I believe is owned by Yamamoto, not sure though. If anyone carries them, my bet is on Ed at Paddletails, give him a call. Last time I was at Paddletails, they still carried Yamamotos. He also sells other brands of senko type baits.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. Claudio is right. Kinami baits was started by Gary Yamamoto's son. Initially they looked cheaper, but when you broke down the quantity per pack (7 Kinami vs 10 Yamamoto) they were actually more expensive. Eventually, they were taken back into the Yamamoto fold. I don't know if they are still being produced.
