Fishing out of Portland this weekend- More pics!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I caught some nice smb close to that giant cedar pagoda.

Apparently a crazy 90 yr old guy lives there, alone.

Bassin the Rideau

Try the other end of the lake... that is what a lot of the locals tell me.

Actually you will probably score a ton of smallmouth from the shoals in that end of the lake. Careful because there is a big No Fishing Sanctuary on that end of the lake too near the Portland launch. Check your Fishing Regulations.

The Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters will be fishing this body of water on Sunday. Most of us will be fishing the other end of the lake east of the narrows.

Got up to the big rideau, and headed out. It was mY dad, my brother, my sisters boyfriend and myself. We headed out to the far end of the lake and found the wind was nasty! So we headed back to the west side of the lake to fish right along the shore, and it was dead Calm. we fished a 100yard stretch in about 8-12 fow. My sisters boyfriend, whom the closest he came to catching anything big was the 12" tuna sub he ate on the away up, yells hes got one. He pulls in this.

My first cast i caught a nice size one as well,(pictures to follow as my dad has to figure out how to get them off his phone)

Then Steve Gets another around the same size.

This is what was working for us, 5" rigged wacky style!

What a day, it was great redemtion for me, as my dad is old fasioned and would rather use minnows and a bobber to plastic.
All in all a great day!!

Your Dad, your brother, your sister's boyfriend and yourself.....sounds almost like the makings of a stag party, or at the very least, TROUBLE.

Fun outing, matcolecat -- glad the fish gave you guys some action, and I'm not surprised to hear it was on plastic(s).

Maybe your sister's boyfriend will be hooked along with the rest of us now. Nice fish!

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Well done, looks like you pounded the bass quite nicely.

Any more trips planned?
