finding muskies

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

finding muskies

Post by hlolver »

Where is the best place to find muskies at this time of year in the Kawartha lakes? I hope to get out one more day next week with a friend. I am most familiar with Buckhorn and Pigeon but have also fished Chemong and Rice lakes.

fishning muskies in the kawathas

Post by fergusod »

I personally fish Balsum Lake. I like the structure and the the size of the lake. Easy to find a spot to fish in bad weather. Muskies... best one 47 inches, the lake holds bigger fish.
Water temp as of first week of Oct was 55 degrees . Should be better this weekend..after the wind dies down and the water cools abit more. Most of the fish i caught are on perch pattern plugs and black bucks with cow bells.

Also troll troll troll...;) and good luck...checek a good hydro map...you'll see... what i mean.

Looking for Muskie here's where I've done best on Pigeon and Chemung.
For Pigeon Lake head up to Bobcageon area. Nogies Creek and down the West side of the lake to Bob Channel also head over and around the Big Island and back towards the Creeks smaller islands.
Look for Cabbage weeds.
For Chemung Lake, put in at the public launch on the west side of the causeway at Bridgenorth. Then head across the lake and start fishing at the causeway pass-through and down towards Fife's bay. Lots of water and lots of islands in Fife's Bay to fish.
Good Luck and keep us posted as to what you catch.
