unsuccessful shore trip

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

unsuccessful shore trip

Post by tbone1088 »

Hi guys,
Just got back from a shore trip down near victoria island tonight. Didn't catch a thing on the point, so I walked up to the ottawa locks and tried my luck there. Fished for about half hour with no luck at all, then I had to use the "mens room" :) So I put the rod down and turned to take a leak and I heard something break the water. I turned around to grab my rod, but it was too late!!! My lure was about a foot from shore in about 6 inches of water. That was pretty much how the whole night went... I walked up and down the shore and scared about 3 or 4 fish that were up REALLY tight to the shoreline. I tried everything from floating cranks to dropshot rigs to a tube with no luck. I`m not sure if the fish weren`t feeding, or maybe I didnt use the right presentation. I will be trying it again though, the spot looks like it could be a real producer in the spring. Thanks to manny for putting me onto it.
Good fishing boys :)

Keep at it TBone.
I've had lots of fun and caught plenty of fish from shore including some lunkers.
Plus it's just a great outing to see new places and a good way to check out the water and see how weeds are growing and what is happening nearby.
Keep a camera on you as you'll always find something to "shoot" from time to time. Good way to get some great outdoor photos and such.
Good Luck.
