Seafoam in a jiffy auger question????

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Seafoam in a jiffy auger question????

Post by Doeun_k »

Hi hawkers
I have just recently bought a used jiffy model 30 3hp I believe it is made in 1996. I wanted to do a seafoam treatment to it and was wondering how much seafoam should I put in per tank( the tank on the auger ). My oils to fuel ration is 24:1 and there are new plugs and blades on it. Another question is how do I sharpen the middle point blade on it if I do need it sharpened???

Thanks

Add 2 oz of Seafoam to every gallon of gas/oil mix.
That comes down to a 1:64 ratio seafoam to mixed fuel.
It will smoke like cheech and chong but that's the nature of the beast.

Maybe someone can chime in on the blades, I've never done it.... but I have tinkered a bunch with motors!

That's all I use for the blades a quick touch up after each time out with a SpeedySharp.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

You don't need to sharpen the blades, that is why the auger has a three horse motor!!! 8)

Droeun...if you've never used the Speedy Sharp before then I'd be cautious trying your sharpening skills on your Jiffy Auger blades.....a new set of blades will cost you $40 and save you the aggravation of being out on the ice only to find that your jiffy doesn't cut worth a crap because you touched the blades up yourself and weren't sure of what angle to use during the sharpening process...

What a way to ruin a day out on the ice....

my 2 cents....

Thanks, I will not sharpenthem my self I'll get someone who knows what they are doing to get them sharp, the auger came with new blades but it is just the pointed part on the jiffy that might need sharpening. I'll bring it to the shop near my work.

Thanks for the heads up

Sea Foam is an engine cleaner/carb cleaner/fuel stabilizer. It's pretty amazing stuff. I have used it in most of my 2 stroke and 4 motors on boats, lawn mowers , weed whacker, leaf blower, ATV, power auger etc. It seams to cure rough idling quicker and easier than anything I have ever used before.

It can be bought at Auto Parts Extra and NAPA

Thanks!

I have NEVER heard of it before, and have been running motors of various kinds all my life. Sounds very interesting........and I can think of a FEW motors in my life that could have profited from something like this (if the website claims are true, and as several people have stated here). Who says you can't teach an old Doug new tricks!!!

SEAFOAM through the PCV valve in my truck did wonders!!!

Fun white smokeshow + increased throttle response and smoother acceleration! Highly recommended!

Best advice on this site in a while!

I know nothing about augers... but I know what it is like to have someone FUBAR a blade... and only find out when you need it and are about to use it.
