This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Cleaning Lures

Post by plittle2 »

Putting the soft water tackle away until for the winter. Curious to know what you use to clean/polish your lures. Anyone used WD-40? Have heard it is used but havent had the nerve to try it.

To be honest I never clean my lures, I will change out hooks and cut off pieces of line though.
I will clean rods and reels, on rods I just use a damp cloth on the blank and magic erasers on the cork. On reels I just use q-tips with water and re-lube the bearings and worm gear with hot sauce.
Magic erasers are awesome for cleaning soiled corks BTW.

I always clean my rods. Give the bearings a nice shot of oil before putting them away. You'd be amazed how much difference it'll make when you pull them out again in the spring
