My first ice fishing outing of 2010/2011

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

My first ice fishing outing of 2010/2011

Post by Spezza_Fan »

I finally got out on the ice this afternoon from 3:00 to 5:30.

We didn't manage any monsters but caught enough eaters for a good little snack tomorrow!

They were all caught on tip-ups rigged with a drop shot and a 2" minnow.

Here's to catching bigger ones next time!

Good job man, just a question. Are the possession limits different in quebec? I see 9 eye on the ice

Hey Nips,
The limit is 5 per person on the river and we were two guys fishing with licenses so we are safe. We eneded the night with 5 each and a perch each. I kept the perch to go for some big pike later this year.

Right on I figured as much, heres another question for ya. I don't think your allowed to use perch as bait, once again maybe different in quebec. Someone want to shed some light on this.

Good question. I've never used perch as bait as I never really fished for them. I just figured that if I caught them I could fish with them. I think I can only fish with them as dead bait though. Not sure. But at the price of a dozen minnows these days, I sure hope I can fish with them.

I just checked the regulations and you CANNOT use perch for bait in ontario, not sure about quebec

Derek, you're going to have the batter that perch and eat it up. Oh no! The humanity!!! Some say perch is better than walleye. ;)
