MLR wrote:Beachburger, wanna split on the cost of a set of tracks? And so that you don't think I am trying to take advantage of the situation, you can have them for 8 months of the year, I will take them for November, December, January, February.
Your generosity knows no bounds. I'll get back to you on that someday.....
Do searches on Kijiji and Used Ottawa, I have seen barely used sets for under $2500, might have to buy a new adapter kit to fit your machine though.
I am sitting on the fence too, trying to figure out why people would want to sell them after only a season or two of use?
Haulin Bass, what are the con's of installing the tracks other than the obvious speed reduction?
MLR, The negatives are 1) of course with the gear reduction you will not travel as far on a tank of fuel 2) the unit is heavy to lift but the weight is distrbuted on the tracks and the floation is great.3) I have heard of one person who damaged their machine getting stuck through the ice in a creek and really rode it hard to get out instead of using their head.4) the steering is hard unless moving. I have about 200 km on mine and this is what I have noticed.Mine are the All season tracks.
HB thanks for answering all these questions for us.. clearly I am not the only one looking.. I ran sleds for years then they sat in the barn year after year, with insurance trail pass etc, I just sold them... and I always used the quad.. but like now there is time in the winter the quad just doesn't cut it..
