Just me?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I actually disagree with this and maybe Craig or Bobber can verify. I do think that the traffic this site gets now is from newer members. It seems to me that every other day someone new signs on...

Two reasons...
(1) The SQL error is still a huge problem. I just replied to Justin's loon pic thread, and I had to submit 4x, each time SQL error. Finally it made it through. Only two reg'd users at the time... myself and Google [Bot]. If Rob would block the Google BOT I'm betting the squirrel will be gone.

(2) Respond to every report, no. I respond to select reports from friends, or if the report piques my interest and the rest I read and enjoy without responding.

Massive number of lurkers on this site. I don't call them "Lurkers" as a pejorative either. They represent the lions share of hits on this site.

There are very few (% wise) who actually make up the content of what is consumed by the masses.

On a personal level, I do not post anywhere near as much as I used to. My personality gets in the way it seems and traumatizes far too many of the fairer sensed people.

That being said, the Musky reports this year are out of this world! Some of the best and consistent Musky reporting I have seen on this site. Our regulars have been their usual regular awesome and terrific selves..

There are less replies though. I think it has a lot to do with exactly what was already stated:

- Facebook Superstars:
So many would rather post on Facebook and be able to pick and choose what is said about their "Reports" and pictures.

- The site crash and SQL errors:
This has taken a toll. I know it has on me. I have had reports ready to go and hit the "Submit" button and ended up with one of those damned errors... eventually I gave up.

- One that people are likely thinking: Moderators (Me):
My style has pi$$ed a lot of people off. Some call me a Nazi others a hippie... most just call me an a-hole. But I keep doing what I do. Learning on the way. I try to not intrude too much and have a bit of a "Laissez fair" attitude... other times I have to get in to it at close quarters. One little weasel hiding behind his shame stained keyboard even tried to have a movement to have me removed as a moderator to have himself installed as one! LOL!! (My proposition of a death match using only 2x4s with nails in them was never replied to... )

What ever the reason, Fish Hawk has survived over the years with MySpace and the ever popular Google+... and it has evolved and survived and flourished.

I think it will continue to do so long after everyone of us are gone.

Try getting voted off.....to then come back knowing what members said about you only once you got booted and couldn't reply!

Why do I keep posting? For the passionate anglers and the sport we all love.

With that being said, I don't post reports often, but when I do, I post them for people to read and benefit from the info I'm willing to share, not for the personal gratification that ones comments will bring.

While what was said above is not entirely true lol, I am the ''weasel'' who offered many times to become a moderator on this site. Would have loved to get a petition going around to have ya removed but it's wild to think that many here actually like the crazy and ridiculous humor. I like ya Craig but can't stand ya sometimes   Were talking fishing here dude, there is no shame 8)

I'm no Facebook superstar but do find it a much better resource as a communication, sharing, and information platform all in one site. It certainly has a major impact on forums. It's as private as you want it to be. May only check out FH once a day now.

Oooh! Isn't it wonderful to see what others say without ability to respond?!?

I'm all about bringing down the borders. While I won't go as far as giving an exact GPS location etc I am MORE than happy to point people in the right direction if they want some help. So long as:

1) Its a spot I have found.
2) If it is a spot divulged to me the person divulging couldn't give a fart if its passed on.

Not everyone likes to share and thats awesome too. A spot or technique passed on to me (in secrecy) is kept that way.....

At the same token.

Not everyone has the time, $$$ or experience to catch big fish etc.

I think people should NOT be ashamed to post what they have caught. If they feel its an accomplishment then so be it!
FishingisHealing used to post about rock bass.....there was more passion in those reports than some reports with huge fish in them!

Remember.....Arnold had his 1st day in the gym, Bruce had his 1st day in the dojo and Stephen Hawking had his first day in school.......

Takes time, trial and effort to get good....every fish you catch in that journey just makes you that much better......

Lol...no Andie... You are just one of them. I am referring to one particular special weasel who I had to fill out a police report against. Your attempt was half-hearted and lack the commitment, imagination and focus that this particular one demonstrated.

Not only that, you and me in a death match with 2x4s with nails in them?

Again, you are just one of many... Not even the last one.

Craig

Sorry for any spelling mistakes... Using my Cel phone and this auto correct is brutal!!

I don't post very often for some of the reasons already discussed. I haven't caught a single bass over 3 lbs so far this year, I was frustrated by the frequent errors when accessing the site (seems better in the past couple of weeks), and having to put your pictures somewhere else and then link to them is somewhat of a pain for a non-frequent poster.

I would not waste my time looking for big bass in Big Gull during that Land of Lakes fishing tournament listed above. I am curious to hear what the winning weights are that come out of Big Gull though...
