Fishing and bathymetry maps

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing and bathymetry maps

Post by group5e »

Hello everyone,

I'm offering to create bathymetry or/and fishing maps for the fish-hawk community. I've noticed throughout this forum and others a lack of good maps available for the public. Many on the paid ones I've seen are also lacking. If anyone is interested, hit my up in this topic or through a PM and I'll let you know if I have enough information to do one for your lake. My background is in geomatics and cartography so I have many of the requisite tools at my disposal. I can also provide high quality aerial photos for those who need them (locationally dependent of course). Just want to give back to a hobby that's given me so much enjoyment throughout the years. :D

I should follow this up by saying most of my information is in Ontario, not other provinces.

@TheMaverick...

Dog-Cranberry-Whitefish Lakes do not have any publicly available bathymetry. There is high-resolution aerial photography for them if you are interested in that.

Thanks for taking the time and verify, your devotion is appreciated.
I'll do without the aerial as I'm mainly looking for depths, but thanks again.

Chandos Lake, County of Peterborough

Post by group5e »

I've decided to start on Chandos Lake as it is a very popular fishing destination in this neck of the woods. Happy fishing!

Further to ShawnD's request, are you aware if any charts exist for the Ottawa river upstream of the Chaudiere falls to Britannia?
Thanks

Ottawa River Requests

Post by group5e »

I'm getting a ton of requests for the Ottawa River so after some scrounging around, I've located paper copies of the hydrographic services nautical charts for the Ottawa River from the Gatineau River to just past Carillon. As I said, these are in paper copies, and they will require scanning, digitization, etc... (all that fun stuff) so there is no way I can do this quickly. However, if anyone has digital copies of these they can share then I can combine them with aerial imagery and create an elevation model (3d appearance) for the data. Else... this may take a while! ;)

Great work! I could have used this map of Chandos when I was there in July!
