St. Lawrence Shore Fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

St. Lawrence Shore Fishing

Post by CalebAlexander »

Heading to the St Lawrence in the Cardinal area to do some fishing soon. Gallop canal is usually where we fish, haven't had much luck there before. Looking to catch a mixed bag but mainly bass, walleye, and pike/muskie. Usually don't have a problem catching bass but cant find the pike/muskie or walleye. The Gallop canal is 2 channels of weedy moderately fast moving water, about 12-24 feet deep. Any tips?? :?:

I would toss some 3/8 or 1/2 tubes & gulp leeches for walleye & smallies for Pike you should through some Husky Jerks or minnow baits in the canal by the boat launch as for the Muskie good luck! You may also try the east side of Cardinal where the water comes back into the Canal for some walleye.
Fishing the St.Lawrence 12 months a year!

I've been looking for spot on the Larry to try this may be interesting...

On that note.... Does anyone know any other shore fishing locations on the St. Lawrence near the 416 that they could recommend?

Besides the spots called out above, Johnstown is located right at the bottom of the 416 which has a few spots like the grain elevator, Prescott has a few spots also a short drive along the highway 2 can put you on many spots east or west.
